Who are you calling a Twit?
Even though I am a technophile, develop software for the web, sometimes, maybe, I can be bit curmudgeon-y about new technologies, especially ones that I (rightly or wrongly) might perceive to be a fad. I feel that way about Twitter, I still don't quite get it.
Even though I don't quite get it yet, people I know and respect, like James are terribly excited about it. When enough of these kinds of people are that excited about something, I feel like there must be something to it. Giving it a second look, I see some of the appeal now that I understand there are IM and phone bots to accept and broadcast updates. I'm going to try and give it a second go, maybe it will click for me.
Part of my re-evaluation has to do with a flurry of activity in using Grazr, the Grazr Widget, and OPML in general to do interesting things with Twitter feeds. James has posted about version 2 of his "Twazr" lifestreaming/unifeed application, based on Twitter mashup work done by Tom. At nearly the same time Dave has added Twitter support to the OPML editor and Amyloo posted a Grazr Widget with it's contents.
In the time I've been writing this, I've added some friends to my Twitter account, lets see if the light goes on and I am a Twit or not.
