With the launch of our new site our site I thought I'd take a second to highlight our new database architecture.
We're really serious about the integrity of the data people are entrusting us to hold so we've built a pretty robust system. Patrick Galbraith (aka Capt Tofu), our database architect and all around database ninja-guru, has put up a couple of posts discussing both the architecture and setup of our new system as well as some of the hiccups we hit duing launch.
The first post discusses the MySQL multi-datacenter, geographically dispersed, multi-master, redundant replication setup we're using that's worth reading if you're interested. The short summary is, especially as we deploy more data services beyond just hosting files, we're really serious about data integrity.
